Species: Sockeye salmon
All efforts and attempts shall be made to return all non target species including steelhead and sturgeon to the water alive and unharmed. Steelhead and Sturgeon must not be retained.
River: HARRISON RIVER
Area: Those waters of the Harrison River located between the outlet of Harrison Lake downstream to the orange boundary signs labeled “Fishing Boundary HFA” below the Railway Bridge.
Allocation: 25,347 Harrison sockeye
Dates and Times
Set Nets : Maximum 100 ft length and 60 meshes deep
1. 6 pm, Tuesday, August 12, 2014 to 12 noon Friday, August 15, 2014
Drift Nets: Maximum 300 ft length and 60 meshes deep
1. 6 pm, Tuesday, August 12, 2014 to 12 noon Friday, August 15, 2014
Please remember that we do not want any fishing that blocks the passage of Weaver sockeye to the Weaver Spawning Channel. This area is on front of Chocolate bar.
2014 Economic Harrison Sockeye Fishery
Fishers Forum – August 11, 2014
Main Points
1) Fishery times – start 6pm Tuesday, August 12th to 12 noon Friday, August 15th, 2014
2) Fishery place – Harrison River only
3) Allocation – 25,347 Harrison Sockeye
4) Fishermen Agreement - will be revised for pick up at Fisheries Building tomorrow Tuesday, August 12th afternoon
5) Buying Station Open: 6 am to 10 pm daily during the Fishery
6) Deductions taken off are the following: 1)BC Salmon Marketing Council & 2) Workers Compensation
7) Buying Station will pay $1.20/lb for your sockeye
8) Fishermen will be paid cash for beginning of this fishery and later will be given cheques once a week
9) Ice will be provided to fishermen – we will be keeping track of how much ice fishermen use for this fishery
10)Non Fishing areas – on front of Chocolate bar (mouth of Morris Slough) for protection of the Weaver Sockeye
