Canoe Journey Itinerary

Hello everyone,

Attached is the 10 day Canoe Journey Itinerary for you to review and share. Sts’ailes is one of the hostnations and planning is well underway. The bigger event days for Sts’ailes are as follows:

  • Friday, July 8th we are looking at providing evening entertainment most likely a family dance with Black Owl Blues at the school gym for the 200 + canoe paddlers, 200 + ground crew as well as community members.
  • Saturday, July 9th we will be having a BBQ and Official Welcome by the Chief, elders, and hand drummers & singers when the 20 + canoes arrive down the Sts’ailes Beach about noon . In the evening near 5:00 pm at the school gym, there will be a big feast and cultural sharing hopefully with some dance groups.

This is a bit of information to share with family and friends and more details will follow.  We are having a planning meeting here in Sts’ailes on Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 10am-12noon in the large boardroomand you are welcome to attend to find out more or to see where you can help on the journey or at the events here in Sts’ailes. There will also be a free food safe course here in Sts’ailes on Friday, June 24 all day in the large boardroom for anyone who volunteers to cook for the Saturday feast so please let me know if this is something you are interested in. Max class is 25 so sooner you sign up the better.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to email me at sonya.williams@stsailes.com or give me a call at 604-796-9601 ext. 230.
